Most of the later half of my high school teaching was very little about my history subject. I was teaching English to 11th grade English speakers. It seems most English majors know very little of basic grammar and have taken all kinds of junk courses(well they would not think so) and also know nothing of Am/Br literature. Of course we must be exposed of the literature of other cultures and those are for college. In an American high school curriculum Am/Br are stressed but should include world literature components. My main gripe is that these high schoolers for the most part write like 4th grade kids.
